Full-time position located at the front desk of the West Cobb Senior Center, working directly with the senior population and the public.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and designing programming, services, activities, and events: research and develop content, conduct community needs assessments, gather supplies/equipment, create handouts, and schedule programming.
- Implement and assist with programming, services, activities, and events: conduct classes for participants of varying fitness/cognitive levels, recruit participants, research desired activities, gather supplies, and provide skill demonstrations.
- Provide customer service: answer questions, assist with program enrollment, research and resolve problems, and provide information about center programs and services.
- Coordinate programming and presentations: communicate with community groups, schedule speakers, and arrange activities and demonstrations.
- Plan, lead, and supervise events: coordinate monthly recreational/social activities, arrange transportation, contact venues, and recruit participants.
- Assist with public relations and communication: create and distribute promotional materials (flyers, calendars, brochures, emails), maintain distribution lists, and attend public events.
- Provide clerical support: prepare reports, update calendars, transcribe meeting minutes, manage petty cash, and maintain inventory of publications.
- Perform cash handling tasks and occasional travel to other centers as needed.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Two years of experience providing programs to special population groups.
- Valid Driver’s License (must maintain).
Preferred Qualifications
- Cash handling experience.
- Data entry skills.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint) for creating presentations.
- Experience working with older adult populations.
- Willingness to obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Ability to manage a high volume of calls.
- Knowledge of food services safety and food operations practices.
- Experience planning, organizing, coordinating, and implementing activities such as health, educational, social, and arts-based programs.
- Experience planning and implementing group trips.
Physical Abilities
- Ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling moderately heavy objects (20–50 pounds); occasionally up to 100 pounds.
- Perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals.
- Communicate orally.
Environmental Factors
- Exposure to adverse conditions such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, or traffic hazards.
