Program Lead
About the role
The Program Lead facilitates programs focused on family and youth enrichment, including Afterschool Achievement Academy, Toddler Achievement Academy, Operation Hero, Camp Hero, and Operation Little Learner. Duties include working closely with Program Coordinators to address program needs and fulfilling administrative tasks as outlined in the manual.
Responsibilities
- Fulfill program and special event responsibilities identified by the Program Director.
- Facilitate programs with intention and purpose, ensuring goals and objectives are met.
- Provide high-quality programs using current teaching techniques and FYE Standard Operating Procedures.
- Complete program attendance, incident documentation, and program reports; manage timecards, mileage, and petty cash requests; and complete monthly statistics and special projects.
- Evaluate programs using available data and support the Program Manager in grant applications and fund generation.
- Participate in meetings, team events, and program development.
- Monitor and organize program supplies and equipment.
- Support military families through programs that promote youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
- Collaborate with military and civilian organizations to provide high-quality programs and events.
- Maintain professionalism and adhere to the YMCA’s core values.
- Complete statistical reporting and fulfill program responsibilities as assigned.
- Work evenings and weekends as required.
Requirements
Minimum education: 6 units of Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development (CD), Psychology, Sociology, Recreation or related field. Experience in facilitating children’s programs and/or working in a similar or related capacity for a nonprofit organization. Familiarity with the military population or equivalent socio-economic group preferred.
Qualifications
- Valid CA Child Development Permit as issued by the CTC in one of the following areas: Teacher, Master Teacher, Site Supervisor, or Program Director.
- B.A. degree from an accredited university or college in Child Development, Social Service, Child Care, Family Resources, or Education or a comparable course of study.
- General knowledge of nonprofit organizational practices.
- A professional demeanor with an aptitude for analytical thinking and problem-solving.
- Proficient in Windows, Excel, Microsoft Word.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- MMR and TDAP vaccinations.
- TB test.
- Onboarding drug testing and background check.

Monday: 1:00pm to 5:00pm
Tuesday: 1:00pm to 5:00pm
Wednesday: 1:00pm to 5:00pm
Thursday: 11:00am to 5:00pm
Friday: 1:00pm to 5:00pm
