Responsibilities

  • Aid the Program Director in facilitating afterschool programs for teens.
  • Initiate rapport and build influential relationships with teens and parents.
  • Implement the Student Retention Plan by promoting and confirming program sign-ups (phone calls, face-to-face, and mailings) and overseeing the student check-in/check-out process.
  • Identify student needs and encourage student participation in programs and appropriate interventions.
  • Research and maintain a program element (e.g., community resources database, resource files, community service projects).
  • Communicate effectively with the program team (meetings before and after student hours) and document data in student records.
  • Maintain the quality of programs and student engagement (meeting core elements: engage, connect, empower), contributing to program assessments.
  • Support in setting up/cleaning up after events and programs.
  • Be present for afterschool hours and two Friday Night Live events per month, as scheduled.
  • Create new program ideas and events for the upcoming semester.
  • Engage in community outreach efforts.
  • Provide administrative support for day-to-day operations as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Staff.

  • The ability to work independently and with a team to meet deadlines and complete all tasks with excellence.
  • A friendly, responsive, and patient demeanor and outgoing personality.
  • Sensitivity to different opinions and adaptability to various personalities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including both writing and verbal.
  • Personal and professional integrity.
  • Clear and creative thinking.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • The ability to lift more than 15 to 20 pounds.
  • A sense of humor.
