About the role

The Program Director, Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement/Risk Management will oversee the design, implementation, and continuous support of quality assurance/quality improvement/risk management programs to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care in a safe and compassionate environment.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a culture of quality, safety, and risk awareness across the organization.
  • Utilize and institutionalize nationally accepted best practices in healthcare quality assurance.

Requirements

Minimum Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in related field with two years’ experience in data, trend analysis, and benchmarking in a medical-related field; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration, Public Health, or a science-related program with four years’ experience in data, trend analysis, and benchmarking in a medical-related field.

Qualifying degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions and conferred by the time of hire.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation: N/A

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, And Experience

  • Progressively responsible and directly related work experience with healthcare-related quality assurance/quality improvement programs.
  • Clinical/healthcare experience.
  • Previous experience in designing and leading a continual readiness accreditation process.
  • Medical or dental records management experience.
  • Working skill level in developing organizational policies and procedures.
  • Excellent computer and database skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The School of Dental Medicine is composed of ten administrative offices and four academic departments. The Administrative units include the Offices of the Dean, Vice Dean, Associate Dean for Student Affairs, Associate Dean for Research, Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, Associate Dean for Extramural Clinical Practices, Assistant Dean for Dental Education and Informatics, Assistant Dean for Educational Support and Faculty Development, Assistant Dean for Academic Success and the Assistant Dean for Business Operations and Financial Affairs. The four academic departments are Surgical Sciences, Pediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, General Dentistry and Foundational Sciences.

Included in the mission of the School of Dental Medicine is to educate dental care providers (both dental students and dental residents) and to address the oral health care needs of the rural populations of North Carolina. The School of Dental Medicine meets these missions by operating dental clinics that provide both educational experiences for the dental students and residents and provide dental care to the residents of North Carolina. These clinics occur in both Ross Hall in Greenville, North Carolina, as well as Community Service-Learning Centers located throughout North Carolina. In order to operate these clinics, appropriate dental auxiliaries and clinical staff are needed.

The Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement/Risk Management Program Director, under the direction of the Vice Dean, will be responsible for design, implementation, and continued support of the Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement/Risk Management programs to ensure the highest quality, patient-centered care is provided in a safe and compassionate environment. The Director will promote a culture of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction throughout the organization to include all administrators, providers, staff, students, and residents. The Director will utilize and institutionalize nationally accepted best practices, essential to the position’s effectiveness.

Program Designs and Implementation: 50% Promote a Culture of Quality, Safety Risk Awareness and Customer Satisfaction: 25% Utilization of Nationally Accepted Best Practices: 25%
