About the Role

HealthySteps is a unique, proven pediatric primary care program committed to healthy early child development and effective parenting. The Program Director oversees the ongoing management and enhancement of the HealthySteps Program, ensuring it is responsive to the physical, emotional, spiritual, and social needs of the population(s) served, their caregivers, and the community.

Responsibilities

Program Director Primary Responsibilities

  • Coordinates, manages, mentors, provides reflective supervision, coaches, and supervises HealthySteps staff, interns, and volunteers to ensure appropriate assignment of job duties and maximum delivery of HealthySteps services.
  • Manages the HealthySteps program budget.
  • Implements pediatric residency training program and curriculum.
  • Ensures quality of program fidelity, evaluation, and department reporting duties.
  • Develops clinical/training presentations and grant proposals.
  • Participates in special projects as needed.
  • Performs all other duties required for HealthySteps implementation.

Specialist Primary Responsibilities

  • Conducts office visits, either jointly with the physician/pediatric nurse practitioner or alone.
  • Works closely with pediatric providers on care coordination, goal setting, counseling, coaching, and education about key aspects of a child’s development.
  • Provides anticipatory guidance to parents and caregivers on common concerns such as early learning, fussiness, sleep, feeding, discipline, and toilet training.
  • Provides referrals and tracks follow-ups to help families connect with key community resources.
  • Facilitates parents’/caregivers’ education groups.
  • Participates in reflective supervision with colleagues.

Requirements

Education

Master’s Degree in psychology, social work, counseling, early childhood, education, or related field highly preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience in managing and reporting grant-funded programs.
  • Experience and knowledge of early childhood growth and development, parent-child relationships, child health, infant mental health, and family systems.
  • Experience evaluating the growth and development of infants and children less than three (3) years of age.

Licenses/Certifications

Licensed Professional preferred.

  • Strong motivational interviewing skills.
  • Ability to work with people of many cultures.
  • Ability to take initiative and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work well both in teams and independently.
  • Ability to collect and enter data for program management, evaluation, and reporting purposes.
  • Must be empathic, supportive, and patient.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, reaching, and walking throughout the working day.
  • Required to stoop, bend, lift, and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
