Position Overview
The Developmental Disabilities Division supports people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities to live meaningful lives as determined by the person. The Program Director leads programs and staff to enhance quality of life and meet regulatory and quality standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures a person-centered focus in care and support.
- Maintains a positive climate promoting respect and dignity.
- Supports people’s independence, choice, and outcomes.
- Participates in screening, admission, and discharge processes.
- Promotes participation in activities of meaningful daily living.
- Provides prompt, efficient, and personalized support.
- Encourages people supported to personalize their environment.
- Provides leadership and direction through observation, mentoring, and coaching.
- Maintains records and ensures staff are properly trained and supported.
- Trains staff in health protocols, personal choice, and outcomes.
- Facilitates meetings with stakeholders for participation.
- Represents the division and organization on councils and committees.
- Coaches and mentors staff under supervision.
- Applies conflict resolution, crisis prevention, and intervention techniques.
- Provides round-the-clock emergency support.
- Manages and operates within the program’s budget.
- Collaborates with HR on hiring, developing, and retaining staff.
- Maintains records in compliance with OPWDD regulations.
- Maintains health care needs and staff training.
- Maintains fire safety regulations.
- Fulfills agency policies and procedures.
- Collaborates with Quality Assurance and Improvement team.
- Monitors program for areas of improvement.
- Implements and reassesses CARF philosophy.
- Requests feedback from all stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Proven experience leading a program.
- Experience working with people with IDD.
- AMAP; SCIP-R; CPR & First Aid certifications (on-the-job training provided).
- Basic computer skills (MS Office suite and Windows).
- Drivers License preferred.
