About the role
The Cornerstone Program Director oversees the NYCHA Community Center, providing leadership and strategic direction to program staff. The role involves recruiting, hiring, orienting, and evaluating staff, ensuring quality youth development programming, and managing the CACFP Food Program.
Responsibilities
- Complete SACC Program Director's (30 hour) credentials
- Lead and supervise full-time and part-time program staff
- Recruit, hire, orient, and evaluate program staff
- Supervise program staff and deliver services on a day-to-day basis
- Develop and implement participant recruitment and retention strategies
- Engage with school administration, parents, and community entities
- Conduct bi-monthly team meetings and staff development
- Facilitate quarterly community events, special events, and workshops
- Manage MS Expansion program (open seven days a week)
- Oversee the CACFP Food Program and its components
- Manage facility logs and ensure maintenance and cleanliness
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Deputy Director/CPO
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent of 5+ years in youth services, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
- Familiarity with the community, key stakeholders, and resources
- Experience in designing, planning, and implementing structured programs
- Experience in budget, contract, and grant management
- High level of proficiency in administrative work
- Ability to work independently, assess priorities, and take initiative
- Public speaking, writing, and organizational skills
- Commitment to working with urban youth and young adults from an asset-based perspective
- Knowledge of the public education system and positive youth development best practices
- Experience partnering with the Department of Education and local community-based organizations
- Skills in experiential learning and group facilitation with youth
- Strategic thinking, flexibility, cooperation, and willingness to work in a team environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and internet research/communication functions
- Experience with DYCD programming regulations and online systems
- Clearance from NYC Dept. of Health and State Central Registry
- NYS Food Handler’s Certificate
- CPR and Advanced First Aid Certification
- Bi-lingual (Spanish or Chinese preferred)

- Master's degree in a related field preferred

Pay
$66,300-$70,000/YR
Schedule
School-Year: Monday-Friday, 10am-6pm, occasional weekend
Summer: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.; at least 3 days out of the summer program weeks
PD must close program at 11pm; Saturdays & Sundays (various); as a non-exempt employee, working hours will include non-standard hours
