Program Director
Position Summary
The Program Director (PD) is responsible for the supervision and management of the treatment program, facility, staff, and clients. He/she consults with the Division Leader, Director of Operations, and the Chief Executive Officer on an as-needed basis to ensure services, program functioning, and client treatment are consistent with Discovery Behavioral Health's mission statement and values.
Essential Job Functions
Oversees all aspects of the program to ensure quality and initiates any quality improvement that may be necessary.
Serve as a facilitator for weekly Treatment Team Meetings to ensure consistent and effective communication among treatment team members, proper oversight of client development and progress, and to utilize a team approach in the treatment of clients.
Participate in the interview process collaboratively to determine the appropriateness and qualifications of prospective staff members.
Provide bi-monthly in-service trainings to all Professional and Counseling treatment staff, including but not limited to: Diagnosis and Assessment, Group Therapy, Milieu Management, Communication Skills, Evaluation, and Appraisal.
Evaluate and appraise each member of the professional staff, completing a written narrative that identifies strengths, weaknesses, and goals for the coming year.
Contribute to effective teamwork by working independently with staff to combine their skills and energies in a focused manner in accordance with the Discovery Mission Statement.
Complete utilization reviews, oversee the primary therapist's process of utilization review, and assist in ensuring all client stays are covered (insurance, private pay, etc.).
Work with staff and facility manager to arrange coverage of all shifts and ensure adequate staffing is provided for shifts as needed.
Maintain a positive, caring, and professional attitude as a role model for treatment staff, residents, employees, and guests.
Assign client cases based on a match with each therapist and provide individualized treatment for each case.
Provide individual and family therapy, follow all duties outlined in the therapist job description, co-leading process groups and/or additional clinically-oriented groups as needed, and provide oversight of all other groups conducted.
Participate in the marketing plan as requested, conduct facility tours for professionals in the community or families as necessary, provide on-call support in conjunction with clinical staff, and provide ultimate oversight when necessary.
Participate in supporting Discovery in Recovery and/or Parent Support/Alumni Groups.
Maintain the confidential nature of resident and related activities.
May be required to travel to other facilities to attend trainings as needed.
Exercise supervision of all professional and counseling treatment staff.
Obtain training and a login for the state CHRIS and CONNECT systems (Virginia State Only).
Knowledge, Education, & Experience
Masters Degree or Doctorate preferred in Addiction Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
A current and valid LMFT, LMSW, PhD, PsyD, LPC, LCSW, MFTI, RD, or equivalent is strongly preferred.
Two years' experience in administration or management of mental health programs.
