Program Director

Program Director – Fluency in English and Spanish is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus five (5) years of experience in child welfare administration and child protective services (required)
• Master’s degree in social work or an equivalent degree in education, psychology, sociology, or other relevant behavioral science (preferred)
• Administrator’s license, First aid, CPR, Emergency behavior intervention (certifications)
• Five (5) years of experience in program management or as director of a licensed childcare program (required)
• 6+ years of experience in program management or as director of a licensed childcare program (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Meet all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards applicable to the position
• Oversee and remediate deficiencies associated with federal and state standards and requirements
• Conduct regular active and archival video monitoring of the site
• Participate in service expansion planning, budget preparations, and short- and long-term planning
• Organize and participate in local and regional meetings with community entities
• Plan and participate in scheduled meetings, team decisions, and operations
• Serve as a member of the Compass Connections Management Executive Council
• Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed or requested by the position supervisor
• Implement Compass Connections safety protocols, including evacuating with children and other staff in case of an emergency
• Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the service population and program operations
• Maintain Compass Connections professional and ethical standards of conduct, including demonstrating respect for agency staff, children, and community members and complying with required dress code
• Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate program personnel in accordance with agency policies and procedures and federal and state standards
• Regularly observe and evaluate buildings, grounds, equipment, staff, children, vehicles, and other program resources and address issues as needed
• Build and maintain relationships between Compass Connections and local facilities’ staff, federal Office of Refugee Resettlement staff, legal representatives, Department of Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement, relevant consulates, and others regarding children’s placement or release
• Facilitate and/or supervise appropriate programming, treatment, and discharge planning for the service population
• Complete timely and accurate documentation in accordance with agency policies and procedures and contract and regulatory requirements
• Frequently traverse from one area of the physical plant to another
• Meet all deadlines required by program supervisor and federal partners
• Support, encourage, and recruit foster parents for Foster Care Programs

Requirements

• Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment
• Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request
• Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background check
• Demonstrate the ability to:
  • Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers, and professionals
  • Provide crisis intervention according to training provided by Compass Connections when needed to maintain a safe environment
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times
  • Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position
  • Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of all Compass Connections policies and procedures
• Receive an annual Influenza vaccination or obtain an approved exemption as a medical or religious accommodation (required as a condition of employment)
