About the role

The Program Coordinator I will assist with student programming, including running online graduate writing groups, presenting classroom workshops, serving as a coach for writing retreats, and assisting with training peer consultants.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with administering programs for graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Maintains records of tutoring consultations.
  • Serves as tutor/coach for writing retreats.
  • Presents at training meetings.
  • Adds material to learning management system.
  • Attends trainings and staff meetings.
  • Represents the UWC at conferences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of program coordination, graduate/undergraduate coordination, or other closely related experience.
  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in English, Communication, Rhetoric, or related field.
  • Experience working in or running a writing or learning center.
  • Experience developing and running educational programming.
  • Experience teaching and/or giving presentations.
  • Experience supervising.
  • Tutor certification from the College Reading and Learning Association (preferably Master level).
  • Knowledge of content management systems.
  • Knowledge of learning management systems.
  • Experience with media production or marketing.
  • Experience working with special student populations including ESL students, graduate students, First-Gen students, International students, and/or students with disabilities.
  • Experience keeping tutoring records.
  • Experience with program assessment.

Qualifications

  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of office software and instructional programs.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for teaching and instructing individuals and groups.
  • Skilled in utilizing various learning and active listening strategies.
  • Ability to orally comprehend and express information and use inductive and deductive reasoning.
  • Ability to positively and professionally interact with clients and staff, groups of various sizes.
  • Able to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
