About the role

This position reports to the Director of Mission Services with significant latitude for independent actions within the scope of the mission, guiding principles, values, ethics, and strategic goals of Goodwill Industries of Northeast Iowa, Inc. The role focuses on developing, implementing, and monitoring Individual Program Plans, coordinating services for persons served, and ensuring excellent service to both internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and analyzes new program participant information and makes recommendations for appropriate placement.
  • Ensures program participant’s Individual Program Plan is written, approved, and implemented timely.
  • Provides initial instruction and appropriate re-instruction to program participants.
  • Monitors training and provides follow-along if necessary.
  • Provides program participants with expectations regarding work habits and attitudes.
  • Monitors functional skills achievement through observation and recording of data.
  • Teaches positive vocational behaviors and implements behavior management methods and strategies.
  • Documents program participant outcome results and follow-ups.
  • Communicates program participant’s progress or lack of progress to appropriate team members and supervisors.
  • Provides immediate needs counseling, vocational counseling, or crisis intervention as needed.
  • Attends required department meetings, in-service trainings, and training conferences as directed by the Program Manager or Director of Mission Services.
  • Completes required weekly, monthly, and quarterly intermittent duties and special assignments as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field; 2 years of full-time paid employment providing services to persons with special needs may be substituted for each year of post-secondary education.
  • A minimum of 2 years related full-time paid experience. A master’s degree in Human Services or related field may be accepted as equivalent for 2 years of work experience.
  • Must be CPR/First Aid and Medication Management certified within 6 months of starting employment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively instruct persons with disabilities.
  • Ability to adjust to unexpected or different situations.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Reliable cellphone.
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
  • Possess a positive attitude and enthusiasm for the agency’s mission.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and automobile insurance.
  • Ability to use good judgment, discretion, and initiative.
