About the role
The Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations within their assigned home, ensuring the well-being and safety of individuals with disabilities. This includes managing staff schedules, approving leave, conducting trainings, and maintaining records.
Responsibilities
- Schedule planning and review
- Maintaining adequate staffing ratios
- Approve leave/timecard review and submit to Program Manager for review
- Fill in for staff when needed to cover shifts
- Assists in interviewing and hiring of potential direct support staff
- Provides individualized orientation to new staff members, mentors, and provides appropriate/constructive feedback
- Assures adherence to policies and procedures through training feedback
- Delegating and assigning duties to DSPs
- Ensuring review/signatures of all plans (nursing, behavior, etc.)
- Maintaining electronic health record for case notes and documentation (client dashboard)
- All assigned tasks are completed daily and logged accurately
- Completes house inspections/fire drills and monthly attendance
- Coordinates/facilitates house meetings
Finances/Management
- Ensures that homes operate appropriately and within budgetary guidelines
- Maintains the highest possible quality of living standards
- Manages in-house consumer monthly finances (cash on hand)
- Maintains appropriate budgetary responsibility for Impress account (food) and SNAP (individual food account)
Documentation
- Completes the PCP in the electronic health record for review
- Trains staff on all Plans
- Reviews all incident reports for accuracy and corrections before submitting for review
Health and Wellness
- Responsible for all medical appointments/paperwork
- Tracks, carries out, and documents all medical appointments for the individuals
- Schedules and plans activities for consumers to participate in weekly/monthly
- During emergencies, acts as Manager for coverage while assisting at the hospital
- Monitors routine and emergency medical/dental services and medication reviews as appropriate
- Ensures that DSPs monitor (to ensure proper nutritional value) and/or consumer hygiene practices
Professionalism
- Models initiative and creative problem solving
- Demonstrates appropriate workplace behavior, modeling the agency’s core philosophy
- Maintains confidentiality in relation to individuals and staff issues
Other Duties & Responsibilities
- May perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience Requ
- Possesses a High School Diploma or equivalency is required. An Associate Degree in human services or related field is preferred.
- Two years of progressively responsible experience working with people with developmental and intellectual disabilities or a combination of education and experience equivalent to this requirement.
- Personable, energetic, and has strong communication skills, both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of community resources available.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to work anywhere within the Tri-County area (Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s counties) as needed.
- Customer service-oriented.
- Computer skills (familiar with Microsoft Office applications).
- A good command of the English language both oral and written and demonstrates these skills.
- Possesses a valid driving license with a good driving record, and access to a safe vehicle (must pass agency sponsored inspection) for transporting people receiving services.
- Possesses the ability to pass the criminal background check mandated by the State of Maryland.
