Program Coordinator

About the role
We are seeking a Program Coordinator to support our Readers in Training (RIT), Books & Buddies (B&B), and Breakfast and Snack Time with Books (BWB/STWB) programs. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, passionate about early childhood education, and enjoys working directly with families and children.
Support literacy programs (Readers in Training, Books and Buddies, and Breakfast/Snack Time with Books) through coordination, communication, and administrative tasks to ensure successful engagement with families and schools.
Responsibilities
- Readers in Training Program Support
- Monitor and respond to emails and telephone inquiries regarding program enrollment
- Help prepare and mail books monthly to enrolled families
- Prepare playgroup materials and facilitate family engagement
- Plan and attend playgroups in Nevada counties, including Nye County
- Facilitate communication between program staff and families
- Send program surveys to participants and provide regular status updates
- Lead planning and execution of the annual Readers in Training Resource Fair
- Work with the Program Manager to provide families with targeted resources and speakers
- Support internal and external communication regarding the RIT program
- Monitor supply inventory and assist with the supply purchasing plan
- Work with appropriate Spanish translation resources, ensuring all families have equal access to materials
- Attend and participate in regularly scheduled meetings with the RIT team
- Books and Buddies Program Support
- Facilitate Books and Buddies sessions at participating schools, as needed
- Assist with the creation and translation of Books and Buddies program materials
- Breakfast and Snack Time with Books Program Support
- Facilitate Breakfast and Snack Time with Books sessions, providing engaging read-aloud sessions to families at participating schools
- Assist with the creation and translation of BWB/STWB program materials
- Administration
- Assist Program Manager, Director of Programs & Grant Writer with grant reports
- Attend other STWN events, including but not limited to helping at school-based distributions and tabling events
- Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the Program Manager or Director of Programs related to the fundamental aspects of the RIT, B&B, and BWB/STWB programs.
Requirements
- College degree preferred, focus on child development or early childhood education preferred
- Ability to read, write, and speak in Spanish strongly preferred
- Valid Nevada State Driver’s License, proof of current automobile insurance, and automobile registration
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, and Access)
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Ability to lead, motivate, and encourage team members effectively
- Comfortable presenting and speaking to groups
- Skilled in scheduling and activity coordination for efficient operations
- Reliable and consistent in meeting attendance requirements
- Assist with packing, unpacking, moving, sorting, and organizing books and supplies, including handling small and large purchases
- Adaptable to changes within a growing and evolving program
- Maintain flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required

Physical & Mental Demands
- Position requires travel within the local area to the office and business locations to conduct business transactions, involving exposure to weather conditions and operating a vehicle
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position when in the office
- Frequently communicates with co-workers and clients/visitors in person and over the telephone to answer questions and provide support
- Must be able to articulate concepts and ideas clearly and concisely

- Ability to reach with hands and arms, lift up to 30 pounds, climb/balance, stoop/kneel/crouch/crawl, and push/pull file cabinet drawers

- Requires the ability to distinguish letters or symbols and eye/hand coordination
- Ability to comply with the Company Drug and Alcohol Policy
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to excessive heat, wet, and/or humid outside conditions. Due to working in office, warehouse, and/or school settings, the noise level is moderate to high.
Pay
$41,600 - $45,750/year
