General Summary

The mission of Ed Snider Youth Hockey & Education is to create opportunity for under-resourced youth of the Greater Philadelphia Region to prosper in life. The intended impact is that participating youth will become Snider student-athletes with age-appropriate social-emotional strengths and skills to succeed and contribute as students, employees and community members.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

- Overseeing well-organized programs including education sessions, on-ice practices, and life skill lessons, ensuring Snider players are meeting development standards on and off the ice. - Recruiting new students to participate in the After School Excellence Program. - Facilitating new student registration and collecting all required student paperwork. - Building partnerships with local schools/community organizations to grow registration. - Communicating with participating families weekly about program offerings, special events and opportunities, and any changes to the monthly schedule. - Scheduling part-time staff and tracking payroll hours. - Supervising part-time staff to ensure they meet expectations. - Ensuring all participants follow all educational requirements for program participation. - Overseeing all Snider Hockey League limited travel teams at designated rink, including roster creation, coaching assignments, parent communication, and coaching staff oversight. - Supporting and promoting all Snider on and off-ice initiatives around Life Skills & Character Development. - Maintain relationships with City Parks and Recreation staff to ensure the rink environment remains safe and welcoming at all times. - Track and maintain inventory to ensure the rink is stocked with appropriate levels of equipment and coaching supplies. - Input and track all relevant student data into Salesforce as required.

Qualifications

- Successful applicants must be a high school graduate; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred. - Advanced computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is essential. - Highly developed interpersonal and communications skills. - Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are critical. - Ability to solve problems and adapt to a constantly changing work environment. - Candidates should be highly motivated to learn, research, and collaborate. - Applicants should be outgoing and ready to provide a high level of service. - 5-10 years of ice hockey experience, as a player and/or coach, is required. - Applicants must be able to pass the PA Child Abuse Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Background Check, and FBI Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

In Intellectually and Socially Demanding Environments

While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee is continuously asked to multitask under time limits. The position requires constant attention to precise details and specified standards including: following simple to complex (more than three steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time.

Physically Demanding Environments

While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee will be in a rink environment where there will be lifting/storing equipment, bringing supplies to rink and, depending on candidate, may be running on-ice hockey practices regularly. Occasional pushing, pulling, lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

The essential responsibilities of this position are performed indoors, mainly in an ice rink setting but including visits to offices and special event sites (indoor/outdoor in the weather conditions prevalent at the time). The noise level in the work environment can range from moderate to loud during events/programs and is minimal during non-event/program times.

Schedule

The Program Coordinator is expected to be on site for the hours Snider after-school programming is taking place at the rink. Those hours include but are not limited to: 4:00 – 7:30 PM Monday through Friday and additional weekend sessions. Additionally, the Program Coordinator will have hours assigned at Snider’s Programs office, summer camp hours at various facilities in the area, and other duties assigned on an as needed basis.
