About the role
The Program Coordinator under the Camp Director's guidance is responsible for ensuring camper safety and assisting in the implementation of high-quality camp programming. This position involves designing and delivering activities tailored to the skills and interests of each age group, while fostering creativity, cooperation, and self-esteem.
Responsibilities
- Ensure campers' safety and proper supervision at all times.
- Plan, set up, and deliver a variety of program activities, theme days, and family nights, collaborating with Specialists and Counselors to maintain camper interest; assist in family nights and special events as needed.
- Regularly greet campers and parents with enthusiasm and make them feel welcome and included.
- Oversee and enforce all safety guidelines related to camp and various program areas.
- Identify and promptly report any maintenance concerns.
- Work with the Camp Director and other leaders to establish consistent communication practices and program initiatives.
- Cooperate with all staff and other programs on the property.
- Attend all staff meetings, special events, and training sessions as scheduled.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least three previous camp seasons as a Counselor, with preference for experience in one or more of the following areas: outdoor living, archery, boating, camping, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, etc.
- Interest in youth development principles.
- First Aid & CPR certifications.
- Ability to problem solve and take initiative that aligns with the YMCA's mission, values, and goals.
- Ability to work as part of a team, act as a role model, and identify potential risk factors to mitigate them.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
The physical demands of this role require sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions and supervise program activities in various indoor and outdoor settings (including those subject to extreme heat and humidity). The individual must be physically and mentally capable of responding to emergencies and administering CPR and First Aid.
