The Student Support Network, a Baltimore County based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, improves the lives of Baltimore County school children living in poverty by providing food, basic necessities, and advocacy to support their well-being and enhance their school performance.

About the role

This is a part-time (20–25 hours per week), hybrid position. The Program Coordinator will work at “The Hub” in Timonium, Baltimore County three days per week and occasionally travel throughout Baltimore County. This role reports to the Program Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Program Manager with logistics and orders for the Network Schools Program (21 schools), including:
    • Placing orders and arranging payments, completing related documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Resolving shipping, receiving, and delivery issues promptly.
    • Monitoring and updating school budgets with expenditures and transactions.
    • Occasionally picking up orders and donations from local retailers and safely delivering items to The Hub.
  • Provide prompt customer service and support to lead volunteers and school liaisons, including:
    • Supporting volunteer training and onboarding for new lead volunteers and school liaisons.
    • Providing ongoing support for program execution at their schools.
    • Occasionally visiting Network schools for meetings or to drop off supplies.
  • Manage the distribution Hub:
    • Conduct regular inventory checks, entry, and tracking.
    • Restock donated items and handle monthly restocks.
    • Schedule, monitor, and meet deliveries (including large donations from partners).
    • Monitor Hub capacity and rearrange space as needed.
    • Pick up purchases and donations as needed (e.g., bulk orders from Weis and other partners).
    • Manage in-kind donations, including responding to donation inquiry emails and phone calls.
    • Coordinate volunteers and school shopping hours.
  • Collaborate with the team on special projects, including:
    • Back-to-school supply drives.
    • Winter coat drives.
    • Large in-kind partner donations.
    • Food drives and community service events.
  • Assist the Program Manager with school-related programming, including:
    • Publishing a weekly newsletter.
    • Ordering monthly inventory stock.
    • Fresh food distribution.
  • Create engaging flyers, social media graphics, and promotional materials using Canva.
  • Conduct community outreach to build and maintain partnerships that increase in-kind donations and program support.

Requirements

  • Strong interest in the organization’s mission to assist students in poverty.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Sense of integrity and privacy when handling sensitive information about Baltimore County students and families.
  • Savvy with e-commerce to determine the lowest cost at the highest quality for orders and supplies.
  • Proficient in Google Drive, Microsoft Office, Constant Contact, MS Excel, QuickBooks, and email.
  • Able to quickly learn new technology.
  • Basic knowledge of budgeting, bookkeeping, and reporting.
  • Comfortable lifting up to 30 lbs.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Demonstrated experience in community outreach, partnership development, or donor engagement.
  • Proficiency in Canva and experience creating digital content, newsletters, and print materials.
  • Experience working with nonprofit organizations preferred.
  • Ability to work one evening per month.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 2–5 years of work experience required.

Pay

$21/hour.

Schedule

20–25 hours per week, hybrid (three days per week at The Hub in Timonium).
