Program Associate
About the role
SAVE is a national nonprofit dedicated to ending the tragedy of suicide through education and training, advocacy, lethal means safety, and supporting suicide loss survivors. We fulfill our mission by:
- Educating and empowering individuals to identify suicide warning signs and refer those at risk to the support they need;
- Advocating at both state and national levels—to amplify the voices of those impacted by suicide and create meaningful change.
- Distributing free tools to limit access to lethal items in a moment of crisis;
- And providing empathetic assistance and valuable resources to help suicide loss survivors navigate the devastating loss of a loved one;
Responsibilities
The Program Associate provides operational and community engagement support to advance SAVE’s programs and community outreach efforts. This role is responsible for:
- Triage and process incoming community requests for SAVE programs and resources, including gun locks and grief and education resources;
- Cook up and ship resource fulfillment requests in a timely and accurate manner;
- Maintain accurate tracking systems for program materials and community engagement in Asana;
- Build and coordinate a volunteer team to support resource fulfillment, event preparation, and tabling activities;
- Organize volunteer schedules, assignments, and training as the program expands;
- Support SAVE’s presence at community events, conferences, and outreach activities;
Other duties as assigned may include:
- Perform general office duties including data entry, filing, and document management;
- Schedule meetings and take minutes as needed;
- Aid in internal operations and cross-functional coordination;
- Aid in planning, coordination, and implementation of programs and events;
- Maintain program records and track metrics for reporting and evaluation;
- Help manage program calendars, materials, and logistics;
- Aid in communication with participants, partners, and stakeholders.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- 1+ years of experience in data entry, inventory management, or program operations, with demonstrated ability in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, or CRM platforms. Strong Excel skills preferred;
- High attention to detail and follow-through;
- Ability to solve problems independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment;
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously;
- Comfort and sensitivity working with topics related to suicide prevention, mental health, and suicide loss support;
Preferred skills:
- Proficiency working across multiple systems, including exporting data between platforms and using tools similar to Asana to track tasks, manage workflows, and maintain organized records;
- Experience coordinating volunteers or events;
- Demonstrated ability to develop and improve processes;
- Experience working or volunteering in a nonprofit or community-based organization.

Pay
Salary range: $35,000-45,000 based qualifications and experience.
