Program Assistant, In-Gallery Learning

About the role
The In-Gallery Learning Program Assistant will facilitate hands-on STEM activities and interpretations in staffed gallery spaces, including the Engineering Design Workshop and Hall of Human Life. This role also supports the maintenance of these spaces by preparing materials and ensuring they are presentable to museum audiences. Applicants must have successfully completed a previous Youth Internship at the Museum of Science.
Responsibilities
- Engage visitors: Interact directly with museum visitors for 4+ hours per day, facilitating activities and interpretations while acting as a museum ambassador to provide excellent customer service.
- Support In-Gallery Learning (IGL) operations: Assist with the setup and breakdown of daily activities, and help maintain gallery teaching spaces by cleaning and preparing activity materials.
- Ongoing training: Train on additional In-Gallery Learning activities in the Engineering Design Workshop, Hall of Human Life, and Charles River Field Station as needed.

- Collaboration: Comfort working with a team to accomplish goals, contributing to discussions, and respectfully interacting with others.
- Willingness to learn: Interest in STEM and/or informal education, and a willingness to continue learning.
- Customer service: Comfort supporting visitors in a positive, engaging way, including handling large crowds and interacting with hundreds of visitors per hour.

Pay
$17 USD per hour.
