About the Role
The Program Assistant is the lifeline of the program, ready to fill any position from Program Manager to Instructor. This role primarily acts as a substitute when staff call in sick or roles are unfilled across multiple locations. Additionally, the Program Assistant supports Program Managers with operational oversight, focusing on coaching and mentoring site staff.
Responsibilities
- Assist sites in your assigned region by traveling to multiple locations weekly.
- Participate in professional development and in-season meetings.
- Substitute for any role needed, including Instructors and Program Managers.
- Help Program Managers oversee all aspects of the program’s daily operations.
- Coach, mentor, and train site Instructors.
- Provide high-caliber customer service by anticipating and addressing challenges involving kids, staff, or parents.
- Communicate with parents to keep them updated on their children’s experiences.
- Exhibit the EDMO Vibe by demonstrating social-emotional learning (SEL) skills: self-awareness, problem-solving, advocacy, collaboration, and empathy, while reinforcing these qualities in staff and kids.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or relevant experience.
- 48 college units or the ability to pass the Instructional Assistant Exam (administered by EDMO).
- CPR/First Aid Certification required by the start date (must include an in-person CPR component; compensation available if not already certified).
- A reliable form of transportation (this job often requires driving between locations or reporting to different locations daily).
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience (and a love for) working with kids.
- Experience working with groups of students.
- Coaching, teaching, or educator support experience.
- Background or familiarity with SEL and STEAM learning methodology.
- Experience providing feedback.
- Creative, patient, and positive attitude with a willingness to problem-solve.
- High sense of responsibility and dependability.
- Patience, flexibility, and adaptability.
- Self-starter, motivated, and a team player.
- Previous camp or after-school experience preferred.
- Classroom teaching experience and/or teaching credentials are a plus but not required.
Physical Abilities & Working Conditions
- Vision: Ability to read small print and view a computer screen for prolonged periods.
- Hearing: Ability to tolerate exposure to noisy conditions.
- Speech: Ability to be understood in face-to-face communications and over the telephone or computer.
- Upper Body Mobility: Ability to use hands to grasp and manipulate small objects; twist and bend at wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; lift objects; turn, raise, and lower head.
- Strength: Ability to lift, push, pull, and/or carry objects up to 50 pounds frequently. May be required to physically restrain parties involved in a conflict.
- Environmental Requirements: Ability to work indoors and outdoors, encounter constant work interruptions, and work cooperatively with others or independently.
- Mental Requirements: Ability to read, write, interpret, and apply moderately complex information; math skills at a high school proficiency level; process information quickly; learn and follow verbal procedures; manage stress; rank tasks by importance; and coordinate information and records.

Pay & Schedule
This is a non-exempt position working 30 hours per week. The hourly wage range is $25.00 - $26.50 per hour, depending on experience and location.
Supervision
This position reports to the Partner Relations Manager.
