Description of Responsibilities

  • Capture and document theater-level Lessons Learned across Marine Forces Pacific (MARFORPAC) area of operations
  • Integrate joint Lessons Learned from U.S. military services operating within Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM)
  • Cook coalition Lessons Learned from partner nations and allied forces
  • Support Operational Plan and Operation Order development by incorporating relevant Lessons Learned into operational planning processes
  • Manage Lessons Learned flows and workflows to ensure timely dissemination to appropriate stakeholders
  • Cook with Indo-Pacific Command staff, component commands, and subordinate Marine units on Lessons Learned matters
  • Analyze theater-level trends and patterns to identify systemic issues and opportunities for improvement
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, briefings, and presentations for senior leadership
  • Maintain Lessons Learned databases and knowledge management systems for theater-level operations
  • Support after-action review processes for major exercises, operations, and engagements
  • Facilitate Lessons Learned working groups and coordination meetings with joint and coalition partners

Required Degree/Education/Certification

  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Education may be substituted with greater experience and/or certifications
  • Graduate of Marine Corps Command & Staff College or equivalent Intermediate Level Education (ILE) (preferred)
  • Derivative Classification

Required Skills and Experience

  • At least ten (10) years of experience serving in the US Military, with a strong preference for service in the Marine Corps. Twelve (12)+ years of experience required if substituting experience for education. Substituted experience may be a combination of military service, DoD civilian, or DoD contractor in similar role(s).
  • Experience in a combat arms, logistics, supply, or operations MOS or serving in a division staff level (or above) position. Prior experience supporting military policy strongly desired.
  • Experience in in-depth research and complete and definitive analysis, documenting lessons learned, developing and writing military quality reports to include situational reports, developing planning documents and proposals, and creating presentations.
  • Experience developing lessons learned questionaires and conducting interviews, or similar types of documentation and analysis.
  • Ability to communicate and interface with Military leaders and commanders at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively, build rapport with end users, customers, and unit leaders in order to develop effective working relationships
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills and strong analytical skills. Strong Microsoft Office, 365, and SharePoint skills.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Ability to adapt to changing working environments and operational tempos
  • Advanced understanding of military tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP)
  • Certified Knowledge Manager (CKM), Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals

Required Citizenship and Clearance

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have an active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret preferred.
