Program Aide
Position Summary
The Salvation Army Northern Division Minneapolis Central Corps supports holistic, person-centered services through worship services, pastoral care, and various support programs. Services include food, clothing, utility assistance, housing, and case management, along with community partnerships.
About the Role
The Program Aide supports the daily operations of the community center, providing direct assistance during recreational, educational, and outreach activities. This includes welcoming participants, preparing spaces, monitoring safety, and facilitating a positive environment.
Essential Functions
Program Coverage & Check-In (25%): Provide a welcoming presence during program hours by overseeing participant check-in/out, maintaining accurate records, and assisting visitors.
Facility Access & Rental Support (25%): Open and close the building for scheduled programs and rentals. Remain on-site during rentals to monitor appropriate use and assist as needed.
Program Setup & Space Reset (15%): Prepare spaces prior to programming, including arranging equipment as needed. Reset spaces at the conclusion of programming to maintain a clean and orderly environment for future use.
Participant Safety (10%): Monitor spaces to ensure compliance with safety protocols, promote respectful behavior, maintain appropriate staffing levels, and de-escalate minor issues as needed.
Equipment Maintenance (10%): Care for recreational and program equipment. Track inventory and report repair or replacement needs to the supervisor.
Community & Special Event Support (10%): Assist with setup, logistics, and on-site support for events such as National Night Out, backpack distribution, and seasonal events.
Activity Support (5%): Help lead age-appropriate games, crafts, and other activities, engaging participants in inclusive and mission-aligned experiences.
Wage
$16.81-$21
Supervisory Responsibilities
None.
Driving/Travel Requirements
If MVR cleared, occasionally operate agency vehicles in support of program operations and organizational objectives.
Education and Experience
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Previous experience in a community center, school, church, or recreational setting is preferred.
Competencies

Dependable and organized, with basic recordkeeping and scheduling skills.

Comfortable using basic computer tools (email, Word, Excel, etc.).
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a combination of indoor (e.g., gymnasium, classrooms, office spaces) and outdoor settings. Must be able to move throughout the building, lift and carry equipment (up to 30 lbs), and set up program areas as needed. Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and occasional physical activity related to recreation programs. Regular schedule includes evening and weekend hours to support programming and events.
