About the role

The Barry Commoner Center for Health and the Environment at Queens College, CUNY, is seeking a Director at the rank of Professor or Associate Professor. The Center is committed to addressing environmental and occupational health threats through a scientific approach that involves public participation and collaboration with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee 7 MD and PhD faculty members and 35 additional Center staff.
• Ensure adherence to Queens College and CUNY mission and policies.
• Maintain and expand the Center's research and engagement in new areas of environmental and occupational health.
• Interact within and beyond the Center, including with universities, government bodies, community organizations, labor unions, and the private sector.
• Promote teaching and student opportunities at Queens College.

Qualifications

• M.D. or Ph.D. in occupational and environmental medicine, epidemiology, or related fields.
• A strong record of research in occupational and environmental health.
• Experience in academic or governmental settings, demonstrating leadership and commitment to the mission of CUNY.
• Proven ability to interact effectively with communities and organizations affected by environmental and occupational health issues.
• A record of leadership within the field, both nationally and internationally.
• A commitment to the mission of CUNY.

Benefits

• Compensation range: Professor - $141,643-$155,388 (9 months), Associate Professor - $121,194 – $129,041 (9 months).
• Summer salary guaranteed for 3 years.
