About the role
The Department of Urban Planning and Design at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design (GSD) invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Professor of Urban Design with tenure.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the academic community through teaching, research, and creative work.
- Engage with a full range of urban design methods, including digital platforms, new technologies like AI, and spatial analysis.
- Develop and deliver innovative studio and classroom pedagogy that addresses key challenges facing cities.
- Participate in interdisciplinary projects and collaborations within and outside of Harvard University.
Requirements
- An advanced terminal degree in urban design, architecture, or a related design field focused on cities.
- A record of academic and creative achievement, including scholarship, design research, and professional practice.
- Ability to engage with diverse perspectives and foster a supportive learning environment.
Qualifications
- Exemplary, innovative approaches to urban design that critically engage with key challenges facing cities.
- Commitment to interdisciplinary engagement and collaboration within the GSD and across Harvard University.
- Strong record of scholarly publication and professional accomplishment.
Skills
- Expertise in urban design methods, including digital platforms and new technologies.
- Ability to teach and mentor students effectively.
- Experience with interdisciplinary collaboration and project management.
