About the role

The Department of Jewish Studies at Tulane University is searching for a full-time Professor of Practice (non-tenure track, 3-year renewable appointment) in modern Hebrew language. Appointment to begin July 1, 2026.

Responsibilities

• Teach 3 courses per semester at the first- and second-year levels as well as more advanced courses in the target language.
• Contribute to the development of a Languages Across the Curriculum program by suggesting additional subject areas, both within and beyond Jewish Studies, where modern Hebrew can be taught.

Requirements

• A PhD in language pedagogy, Hebrew, or a related field.
• Extensive teaching experience at the college level.
• A record of success in the classroom.

Qualifications

• An interest in helping to build Hebrew language curricular offerings at Tulane.

Skills

• Ability to teach modern Hebrew at various proficiency levels.
