Lecturer in Jewish Studies

About the role

The Department of Religion and Theology is seeking a dynamic and qualified Lecturer in Jewish Studies to cover a maternity leave position. This is a fixed term 0.7 FTE role starting on 1 September 2026 through to 31 May 2027 or the return of the current post holder.

Responsibilities

• Provide teaching in Jewish Studies and Philosophy of Religion
• Provision of related administrative support in the Department of Religion and Theology
• Teach widely within the department’s undergraduate units
• Supervise undergraduate dissertations
• Undertake other teaching and administrative duties as appropriate

Requirements

• Hold a PhD in Jewish Studies or a cognate discipline (or be near completion of their doctorate)
• Knowledge and expertise appropriate to teaching areas specified at mainly undergraduate levels
• Able to work collaboratively with others in teaching and scholarship
• Able to engage and enthuse students in both small and large group teaching
• Able to provide effective academic support for students, including one to one

Pay

Salary: £43,482 - £50,252 per annum pro rata
