About the role
The Department of Religion and Theology is seeking a dynamic and qualified Lecturer in Jewish Studies to cover a maternity leave position. This is a fixed term 0.7 FTE role starting on 1 September 2026 through to 31 May 2027 or the return of the current post holder.
Responsibilities
- Provide teaching in Jewish Studies and Philosophy of Religion
- Provision of related administrative support in the Department of Religion and Theology
- Teach widely within the department’s undergraduate units
- Supervise undergraduate dissertations
- Undertake other teaching and administrative duties as appropriate
Requirements
- Hold a PhD in Jewish Studies or a cognate discipline (or be near completion of their doctorate)
- Knowledge and expertise appropriate to teaching areas specified at mainly undergraduate levels
- Able to work collaboratively with others in teaching and scholarship
- Able to engage and enthuse students in both small and large group teaching
- Able to provide effective academic support for students, including one to one

Pay
Salary: £43,482 - £50,252 per annum pro rata
