Job Overview
This position is primarily responsible for the instruction of students in the general education program; responsible for classroom and laboratory teaching activities in assigned course. Actively supports an outcomes-based learning centered culture through continued professional development for improvement of self and the college in keeping with the College’s learning-centered values and goals. Reports to and operates under the direction and supervision of the Department Chair.
Job Responsibilities
- Participates in the planning and implementation of the course.
- Reviews and revises content as necessary.
- Selects audiovisual materials, references and other appropriate resources to facilitate learning.
- Prepares, administers and analyzes evaluation methods.
- Captains the activities of skills lab.
- Presents in an organized manner.
- Develops presentations to encompass new concepts, principles, terms and clinical applications.
- Presents in an expressive manner encouraging student contributions.
- Uses a variety of teaching strategies.
- Implements ongoing assessment of student learning.
- Implements clinical instruction facilitating student attainment of expected clinical behaviors.
- Plans clinical experiences to assist students to achieve course objectives.
- Supervises students in their implementation of care.
- Confers with students regarding progress according to established course requirements.
- Acts as role models when facilitating student learning.
- Assists students to relate theory to clinical.
- Evaluates student achievement of expected learning behaviors.
- Provides verbal/written feedback.
- Serves as a member of a committee, sub-committee or task force in addition to College Assembly.
- Attends college educational programs.
Job Requirements
- Master's Degree in a field related to the course discipline.
- Provide evidence of recognized professional competence.
- Working knowledge of the nursing process.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must have either proven or presumptive scholarship in subject matter field.
- Education of full-time teaching.
- 2-3 years experience.
- Teaching faculty will have at least 24 months of sufficient diversified professional experience to support effective teaching.
