About the role
This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure track, bargaining unit position reporting to the Chair of Communications, Languages, and Literature and is located on the JWCC campus in Quincy, Illinois. Position begins Fall semester 2026.
Responsibilities
- Teach a variety of communication courses (e.g., Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, or related CMN courses) at partner high schools, the main campus, and extended locations as assigned.
- Deliver dual-credit coursework in accordance with college policies, curriculum standards, and assessment practices.
- Ensure consistency of academic rigor, learning outcomes, and grading standards across all instructional locations.
- Develop, revise, and assess curriculum to ensure alignment with institutional learning outcomes and transfer standards.
- Maintain accurate course records, engagement, grades, and student communication in accordance with institutional guidelines.
- Serve as a liaison between the college and partner high schools.
- Participate in dual-credit programming.
- Support alignment of syllabi, assessments, and instructional practices across sections and locations.
- Provide timely feedback on student work and advise and mentor students as needed.
- Participate in department meetings, curriculum development, assessment initiatives, and accreditation processes.
- Engage in committee service and campus activities.
- Contribute to program recruitment, outreach, and retention initiatives.
Qualifications
- Requires a Master's degree in Communications or a master's degree in a closely related field plus eighteen (18) graduate hours in Communications.
- Demonstrated teaching effectiveness.
Skills And Competencies
- Proficiency in using instructional technology and online learning platforms.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented academic environment.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to student success.
- Experience in an educational or public sector setting is a plus.
- Ability and willingness to teach at partner high schools, the Quincy Campus, or outlying centers.
Pay
This is an exempt position with an estimated base salary range of $42,563 - $99,844.00. Salary is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and is commensurate with education and experience.
