School Information
The School of Communication, Language, and Culture is a newly created academic unit within the College of Liberal and Fine Arts at the University of Texas at San Antonio. It aims to unite specializations in bilingual and community journalism, digital communication and media influence, digital humanities, health communication, interpersonal communication, languages, linguistics, literary studies, organizational communication, and translation and interpreting studies.
Position Summary
The School of Communication, Language, and Culture seeks an innovative and dynamic leader to serve as the inaugural School Director. The successful candidate will lead efforts to bring together the Departments of Communication and Modern Languages and Literatures, forge and implement long-term goals, help recruit students and faculty members, develop novel and robust curricula, foster faculty development and leadership, and build up donor and alumni relations. The director will receive two course releases per year (1/1).
Qualifications
Doctorate in a related discipline to those represented by current faculty in the new School.
Successfully navigate the different disciplines involved, facilitating collaboration and exchange.

Significant management experience and proven ability to mentor faculty and students through change.
Show evidence of ability to secure grants and external funding for their own work as applicable.
Possess skills and interest in engaging donors and alumni alike to create and foster new relationships.
Distinguished record of scholarship with extensive publications commensurate with a tenured position at a research-intensive university.
Outstanding record of teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Active research agenda and excellence in the classroom as administrative duties permit.
Contribute to the university and community through service activities and outreach.
