About the role
The School of Communication seeks an assistant professor of Communication with expertise in the practice and theory of communication and rhetoric. The ideal candidate has a PhD in Communication Studies, with specialties in Speech Communication, Rhetorics, and Digital Rhetorics. Preference will be given to candidates with college teaching and curricular design experience. Experience coaching debate or competitive argumentation, including research, evidence evaluation, and oral advocacy, is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Teach courses in the Powers of Words Rhetorical Sequence and Lipscomb's Communication and Composition Core curriculum co-requisite classes.
- Support the development and implementation of curricular materials.
- Contribute to the ongoing assessment and improvement of the curriculum.
- Participate in departmental and university committees as assigned.
Requirements
- PhD in Communication Studies, with specialties in Speech Communication, Rhetorics, and Digital Rhetorics.
- College teaching and curricular design experience preferred.
- Experience coaching debate or competitive argumentation, including research, evidence evaluation, and oral advocacy, is a plus.
