Professional Tutor (English/Writing) - SAC - req14056 - T

About the role

Play a crucial role in student success by working with students to identify their academic needs and provide personalized tutoring sessions.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one or small-group tutoring to high school students
• Assess students’ academic needs and tailor instruction accordingly
• Support improvement in English Language Arts, including writing skills for classroom assignments and college application documents
• Assist students with varying academic backgrounds and needs
• Occasionally support student field trips (once per month) including evenings and weekend hours

Requirements

• Associate’s degree or equivalent education (60 hours) including successful completion of college-level coursework in the related field

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year of tutoring, teaching, or directly related experience
• Experience working with a multi-cultural population of students with varying backgrounds and education
• Knowledge and experience tutoring in English Language Arts to help improve students’ writing skills

Location: Burbank HS in SAISD, 1002 Edwards, San Antonio, TX 78204. Hours are completed at the high school. Supervised by Dean of Student Success at 1819 N Main Ave., San Antonio, TX 78212.

Hours per week: 19. Schedule: Monday–Friday 11 am–2 pm; occasional evenings and weekends to support student field trips once per month.
