About the role
We are seeking a Professional Student to support the Design Team in developing architectural or engineering designs and construction documents using 2D and 3D software. This role provides hands-on experience working alongside architects, engineers, and designers while gaining exposure to building codes, zoning regulations, design coordination, and construction documentation. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and interested in developing technical and professional skills within a collaborative architectural environment.
Responsibilities
- Use 2D and 3D software to assist the Design Team in developing designs and drafting construction documents under the direct supervision of HFA full-time staff designers, Team Leads, and Client Leads.
- Utilize education and experience to independently tackle challenges as they arise on projects with the support of the Design Team lead.
- Gain experience evaluating client requirements, building code, and zoning regulations to develop design recommendations.
- Produce accurate construction documents detailing the client’s vision and goals.
- Document and analyze existing building conditions to produce as-built documents and reports.
- Conduct building code analysis and research regulatory requirements to determine design constraints.
- Develop design options and alternates.
- Coordinate building components and systems with other disciplines to develop construction documents based on client requirements.
- Perform quality control of your own work prior to submitting it to your immediate supervisor.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or interior design (or an Architectural Studies degree preferred, but not required).
- HFA’s internship program requires an 8-week commitment in our Bentonville, Arkansas studio Monday through Friday during regular working hours (8 am to 5 pm).
- Internship participants must be within 18 months of college graduation.
