Professional Services Coder II, PRN

About the role

This position is responsible for the timely abstraction and coding of professional surgical services based on provider documentation, ensuring compliance with Tulane University Medical Group Guidelines. Responsibilities include providing ongoing education to physicians and their employees regarding billing functions, internal and external regulations, and documentation issues. The role requires the ability to work independently, demonstrate leadership qualities, and act as a liaison among providers, administrators, and coding staff.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
• Work independently, showing initiative and strong organizational skills
• Maintain tactful and professional interpersonal relationships
• Utilize basic PC skills (e.g., Email, Word, Excel)
• Apply knowledge of LCD/NCD/CCI edits
• Apply knowledge of CPT/ICD-10 coding
• Respond timely and accurately to inquiries from providers, administrators, and coding staff

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Five years of medical coding experience in multiple specialties
• CPC Certification
• Associate Degree in a related healthcare field
