Professional Science Tutor - Keokuk Campus
Job Description
The Professional Science Consultant (Tutor) will meet with students to provide tutoring services for Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, and potentially Chemistry at the Keokuk Campus. The position reports to the Learning Resources Coordinator.
- 12-16 hours per week, scheduled Monday-Thursday from 9am to 3pm.
- This position runs with the SCC Academic Calendar for Fall & Spring semesters.
- It begins ASAP, runs through May, and returns in August for the 2026-2027 Academic Year.
- The pay rate is $19 per hour.
- This is a part-time hourly position without benefits.
- Tutoring sessions run 50 minutes beginning on the hour.
- The location is Keokuk, Iowa.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of an Associate’s Degree with sufficient collegiate coursework in Science.
- Ability to assist students with Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, and potentially Chemistry coursework.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- A copy of unofficial transcripts must be sent.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Human Health & Physiology, Exercise Science, Health Science, Nursing, Kinesiology, or a related field.
- Experience demonstrating sensitivity to and an understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disabled backgrounds of community college students.
- Experience working as a Science Tutor or in a Tutoring Center.
- Experience working with adult learners.
Physical Demands
Base-level technology knowledge is preferred.
