About the Role

This class performs routine, daily posting, invoicing, collections, and reimbursement tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Enters a variety of information and data into applicable spreadsheets, automated financial accounting systems, and/or databases.
  • Computes and collects fees and money from customers; issues receipts to customers; prepares deposit slips; submits to appropriate individuals.
  • Prepares, balances, reconciles, and records a variety of worksheets, vouchers, deposits, and/or other related financial information.
  • Performs various routine clerical duties, utilizing standard office equipment, to include: answering and responding to incoming calls; making photocopies; faxing documents; typing; and word processing.
  • Affords assistance to customers and employees with requests for information over the phone and in person; researches and resolves problems with accounts and/or other related issues.
  • Posts financial information into applicable financial system; makes adjustments between revenue codes.
  • Prepares a variety of routine statistical, financial, and/or operational reports related to area of responsibility.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Requirements

  • Positions assigned to Corrections may be responsible for: Monitoring and adjusting pre-sentence investigation charges, lien charges, and control date cases; Coordinating the operation of the Probation Accounting Management System for the department.
  • Positions assigned to Solid Waste may be responsible for: Weighing vehicles and determining appropriate disposal fee; Ensuring office is prepared for efficient daily operations.

Qualifications

  • Training and Experience (positions in this class typically require): High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) and up to one year of clerical experience and knowledge of accounting; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
  • Licensing Requirements (positions In This Class Typically Require): Licensing Requirements: Valid driver’s license.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of: Basic accounting principles and practices; Office procedures, methods, and equipment; Automated financial software packages; Data entry techniques; Basic mathematical concepts; Customer service principles; Cash handling procedures; Recordkeeping principles.

Skills

  • Skill in: Using computers and related software applications; Providing customer service; Performing mathematical calculations; Maintaining records; Performing data entry; Operating standard office equipment; Tabulating, recording, and balancing transactions; Researching account discrepancies; Handling multiple tasks simultaneously; Preparing reports; Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Supplemental Information

  • Physical Requirements: Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work. Incumbents may be subjected to odors, dusts, extreme temperatures, workspace restrictions, and intense noises.

Required Question
