About the role
The Professional Education Compliance Lead is based out of Austin, TX within the Cardiac Rhythm Management Division. This is a fully onsite role.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all compliance aspects of professional education activities, ensuring adherence to applicable medical device laws, regulations, and industry codes (e.g., Anti-Kickback Statute, Sunshine/Open Payments, AdvaMed Code).
- Oversee compliant engagement, contracting, and payment of physicians for education, training, and consulting activities, including generation and execution of contracts, FMV determinations, speaker training completion, and payment methodologies.
- Manage budgets, proof of performance, and timely payments for physician engagements;
- Oversee tracking, documentation, transparency reporting, and transfers of value for physician payments, including review and approval of all physician invoices, honoraria, and reimbursements in accordance with company and division guidelines.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks related to professional education programs, ensuring all activities are audit-ready; support audits, investigations, and corrective action initiatives as needed.
- Manage field compliance challenges
- Manage compliance for all U.S. physician engagements conducted outside the U.S. (OUS), partnering with OUS teams to ensure local compliance, documentation, proof of performance, and alignment with U.S. and local regulatory requirements, including cross-border agreements.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance policies, SOPs, and internal controls related to physician engagements, payments, and professional education programs
- Partner cross-functionally with Legal, Finance, Medical Affairs, Education, and external vendors to provide compliance guidance, training, and education and to ensure compliant execution of programs.
- Participate in broader professional education leadership initiatives, including strategic projects and process improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree- BA/BS in business, healthcare, marketing, compliance, legal studies, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in compliance, legal, medical affairs, marketing, or professional education within the medical device, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industry
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 - 7 years of experience in compliance, legal, medical affairs, marketing, or professional education within the medical device, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industry
Skills
- Strong understanding of medical device laws, regulations, and industry codes (e.g., Anti-Kickback Statute, Sunshine/Open Payments, AdvaMed Code)
- Experience in managing budgets, proof of performance, and timely payments for physician engagements
- Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks related to professional education programs
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Proficiency in developing, maintaining, and enhancing policies, SOPs, and internal controls

Pay
The base pay for this position is $86,700.00 – $173,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
