Professional Development Academic Trainer (Effective 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR)

About the Role

This position serves as a member of a team, supporting district academic initiatives, teacher development, school development, cross-content academic writing, instructional support for teachers, and district instructional goals.

Responsibilities

  • Support district academic initiatives
  • Provide teacher development and instructional support
  • Assist in school development and cross-content academic writing
  • Deliver professional development and training
  • Work with diverse and at-risk populations
  • Integrate technology into instructional practices
  • Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends as needed

Requirements

  • Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate
  • Five (5) years of teaching experience
  • Three (3) years of experience working with at-risk populations
  • Two (2) years of experience providing professional development
  • Knowledge and/or experience as a trainer in the Essential Elements of Instruction, or willingness to complete this requirement within one year
  • Knowledge of and/or experience as a trainer in the most recent Arizona State Standards (including the Common Core Standards), or willingness to complete this requirement within one year
  • Knowledge of and/or experience training in cognitive coaching or other similar coaching frameworks or methodologies
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), writing competency, professional development, and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in the use and integration of technology
  • Ability to work successfully with diverse populations

Requirements Prior to Start Date

  • Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of teaching with Tucson Unified School District

Schedule

  • 10.5-month work calendar
  • 1.0 FTE (7.5 hours per day)
  • Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed

Pay

Salary will be prorated if the start date is after the first day of the work calendar. Internal candidates will transfer at a rate commensurate with their bargaining unit language. For more information, reference the Employee Agreements Webpage.

Additional Details

  • Three positions available: K-8 Math, 6-12 Math, 6-12 ELA
  • Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits
  • Effective for the 2026-2027 school year
  • Location: Curriculum Development Academic Standards (sites may vary)
