About the role
The Environmental Division of the Great American Insurance Group seeks a Production Underwriter/Senior Production Underwriter to join our dynamic team in Cincinnati OH, Boston MA, Exton PA, or NYC.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for risk selection/rejection, pricing, retention, growth, and profitability per divisional objectives.
- Supports business goals with independent judgment and initiative.
- Maintains high levels of customer service.
- Analyzes coverage and limit requests and decides on terms to offer.
- Pricess business according to company guidelines.
- Assesses risk quality and compliance within company guidelines and initiates appropriate loss prevention actions.
- Orders and screens necessary reports for the rating and underwriting processes.
- Develops and maintains effective business relationships with internal and external customers.
- Vists agents, brokers, and producers to retain existing accounts, build relationships, and develop new opportunities.
- Interprets, explains, and markets products and services.
- Applies underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations.
- May provide guidance and assistance to lower level associates.
- May have responsibility for performance and coaching of staff and participate in decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management for direct reports.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 2-4 years of environmental underwriting or consulting experience.
- Able to work independently and familiar with basic underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Occasional travel required.
