Airbus U.S. is seeking an enthusiastic and creative quality engineer to develop solutions for new satellite systems and their integration to space launch vehicles, with a primary focus on electrical and thermal testing. Ideal candidates will bring exceptional quality engineering skills and strong experience in aerospace programs.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate and support root cause investigations and definition of containment.
- Validate repair instructions and facilitate execution of repairs.
- Perform quality gate reviews to ensure finished satellites conform to design configuration and specifications.
- Participate in cross-functional planning, coordination, and task execution involving quality, engineering, and integration activities.
- Perform quality engineering activities to build, maintain, and evolve Airbus spacecraft products.
- Promote and optimize cost savings by reusing heritage platform designs and manufacturing infrastructures for constellation prospects.
- Provide real-time support during system-level test activities, including anomaly resolution and root cause analysis.
- Analyze test data to validate system performance and readiness.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technical, Engineering, Math) or related scientific areas.
- Preferred: Master's degree in STEM or related scientific areas.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience with a bachelor's degree, or 3 years with a master's degree.
- Proven track record working with aerospace hardware and/or software systems, from conceptual designs through operations.
- Hands-on experience with one or more subsystems: EPS, DHS, AOCS, RF, or test environments.
- Experience with test script development, review, and debugging in engineering or manufacturing environments.
- Experience with spacecraft system integration, verification, and testing.
Skills
- Exposure to quality management systems such as AS9100, IATF-16949, or ISO-9001.
- Understanding of quality tools like PFMEA, quality planning/control plans, statistical process control (SPC), root cause analysis, and lean tools.
- Clear and concise communication across multiple levels.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW.
- Understanding of test management and configuration tools.
- Team-minded with the ability to work in multi-functional, multi-cultural, fast-moving, and complex technical environments.
- Flexible attitude, strong initiative, and demonstrated ability to deliver results.
- Willingness to work flexible hours.
Additional Information
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
- Onsite work: 90%.
