Production Technician - UCCU Audio/Visual Production

About the role

Join Utah Valley University and play a key role in bringing a wide variety of high-profile events to life at the UCCU Center. In this position, you will work behind the scenes to support athletic competitions, concerts, graduations, conferences, and other major campus and community events. This role offers the opportunity to apply and expand your technical expertise in audio, video, lighting, and multimedia production while contributing to memorable experiences for thousands of attendees. In a collaborative, fast-paced environment, you will gain hands-on experience with advanced production technologies, complex event systems, and live event operations. Whether troubleshooting equipment, coordinating technical services, or supporting large-scale productions, your work will directly impact the success of events that connect and inspire the university and the surrounding community.

Responsibilities

• Set-up and tear-down of all technical services equipment
• Operate audio equipment including speakers, mixers, microphones, and cabling
• Operate lighting equipment including theatrical fixtures, consoles, and cabling
• Operate professional video broadcasting equipment including cameras, tripods, cabling, rigging systems, and their components
• Operate all audio/visual equipment for events, including sound systems, theatrical lighting systems, and live video production
• Assist in lighting designs and plots, sound designs, and live video production designs
• Update equipment and software systems as needed
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED plus a minimum of 1 year of experience or education related to the Summary of Duties

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience

Knowledge

• Professional theatrical lighting, including procedures, practices, techniques, and terminology
• Industry standard fixtures, consoles, dimmers, and safety
• Professional audio sound reinforcement, including procedures, practices, techniques, and terminology
• Speakers, amplifiers, mixers, microphones, common wiring, connections, and safety
• Professional video production, including procedures, practices, techniques, and terminology
• Video formats and methods, video displays, projectors, video cameras, lenses, switchers, replay systems, common wiring, connection types, and safety
• Troubleshooting equipment and making minor repairs
• Installing audio-visual equipment
• Basic computer programs
