About the role
This non-supervisory position is located in Delavan, Wisconsin. The Production Technician/Back up Material Handler (2nd Shift 3:00 PM–1:00 AM M–TH) will care for all machine-specific functions such as configuring the equipment, loading and operating the machines, and optimizing machine capability. Technicians ensure assigned machines run to full capacity, oversee and perform light maintenance, and perform quality checks to drive Continental Plastic (CPC) profitability and achieve organizational KPIs and strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
- Perform various tasks to set up, operate, monitor, troubleshoot, clean, and complete preventive maintenance on assigned machines.
- Set up and operate single or multiple production machines in accordance with established procedures and guidelines to ensure quality production and minimal unplanned stops.
- Check machine output and identify any issues.
- Adjust machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications.
- Inspect parts to specifications and make adjustments or tool changes as necessary to maintain quality specifications.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and production orders to perform required tasks.
- Verify manufacturing requirements against production orders; check for accuracy, shortages, and damaged material. Detect and report defective material against product specifications.
- Pull and deliver materials and supplies to designated areas; maintain records of material and supply movement.
- Deliver raw materials to the machines as needed and lead or assist in the set-up of raw materials in the manufacturing machines.
Requirements
- Education, training, and experience equivalent to a high school diploma/GED.
- At least 6 months of machine operating experience.
- At least 6 months of forklift operating experience in an industrial setting.
- Coursework supplemented with mechanical systems.
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of the principles and methods involved in machining processes and applicable safety and OSHA requirements.
- Ability to build positive team relationships and achieve outcome-oriented objectives.
- Working knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (LEAN Enterprise) with a holistic viewpoint.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, setting priorities and managing time effectively.
- Ability to work independently, managing job orders and deadlines while maintaining an awareness of other business dependencies.
