Production Technician

About the role

The role primarily involves following SOP procedures for equipment setup in a clean room environment, including proper gowning and aseptic techniques. Operators will use a human-machine interface (HMI) to control processes, especially in purification, formulation, and column packing, with initial assignments typically in purification. Daily tasks include reading procedures, tank setups, following parameters, escalating issues as needed, and executing column chromatography.

Responsibilities

• Spend most time on the shop floor executing assigned tasks under supervision while learning and applying cGMP, quality and SHE requirements
• Equipment setup/takedown, cleaning, routine maintenance
• Complete electronic and paper records (MES)
• Escalate deviations
• Support area ownership and participate in basic continuous improvement activities
• Execute routine production tasks (solution prep, basic cell culture/support tasks, formulation and housekeeping) per SOPs, MPRs and SPRs
• Complete accurate records in MES to ensure traceability
• Support setup, takedown, cleaning and routine maintenance of equipment under supervision
• Follow qualification requirements and escalation pathways
• Learn and follow GMP, Quality and SHE protocols
• Identify and report unsafe conditions and quality deviations
• Participate in safety/investigation activities as required
• Support designated area ownership standards and basic lean practices to maintain a safe, orderly work area and improve local efficiency
• Use available data and MES outputs to complete assigned work; record observations and flag anomalies for review
• Embrace and learn digital tools used in the area; participate in digital adoption and training activities
• Manage and prioritize assigned daily tasks with supervision; complete work on time with attention to detail and communicate status proactively
• Communicate clearly and concisely with peers and Managers; share updates and escalations in a timely manner
• Apply coaching to improve performance
• Take responsibility for completing assigned tasks, follow instructions, and comply with Company values and safety requirements
• Participate in initial qualification and on-the-job training programs
• Support area housekeeping and DAO standards

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 0-1 year relevant experience
• Basic computer literacy; willingness to learn MES and CMMS; ability to follow instructions and work reliably in a cGMP environment
• BS/BA degree desirable
• Candidates straight out of college are considered, but purely engineering backgrounds are less preferred due to retention concerns
• A science background, particularly in biochemistry, is very helpful and a bachelor's degree in a science field is likely a minimum due to how competitive the company is

Schedule

Night shift - 6pm to 6:30 AM, 12-hour rotating schedule: 2 days on, 2 days off, with every other weekend including a 3-day weekend (Friday - Sunday).
