Production Technician

Role Overview

PIC North America, a Genus Company, seeks a Production Technician at its facility in Mound City, South Dakota. This entry-level position offers a starting pay of $19.25 per hour and provides hands-on experience in animal health and welfare on pig farms. The role involves a variety of tasks including animal husbandry, medication administration, barn maintenance, and emergency response.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, watering, and monitoring animal health
• Maintain accurate and timely production records and reports
• Treat sick animals with prescribed medications using various methods
• Maintain and sanitize barn areas and office spaces
• Assist with moving animals and managing efficient animal flows
• Adhere to company policies and procedures related to animal care and safety
• Participate in the company’s emergency notification system
• Comply with safety requirements and follow biosecurity protocols

Requirements

• Previous livestock handling experience preferred
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
• Flexibility to adapt to changing plans and farm leadership directions

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 pounds
