About the role
Air Liquide Large Industries provides industrial gas and energy solutions vital to customers' industrial production. We own and operate over 2,000 miles of industrial gas pipelines in the U.S., supplying oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, and syngas in large quantities to major customers in the chemicals, petrochemicals, refining, and steel industries. Our pipeline operations and industrial gas production facilities are monitored 24/7 within our leading-edge operations control center in Houston, Texas.
Responsibilities
- Apply understanding of plant safety rules, regulations, and company safety policies/procedures to protect the team and foster a shared safety culture.
- Identify potential maintenance needs and enter them into the work order maintenance management system (Maximo) to ensure ongoing reliability.
- Perform all work in alignment with standard operating and maintenance procedures, utilizing current Life Safety Training skills and safety requirements, including safe work permits, energy control isolation, confined space entry, hot work, work plans, pre-job discussions, and plant safety inspections.
- Partner with contractors, visitors, and co-workers to support compliance with company safety policies/procedures.
- Issue safe work permit documentation and perform lock-out tag-out of equipment.
- Grow knowledge and ability in all plant operations, including processes and equipment, with an interest in instrumentation and mechanical systems.
- Learn and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and corporate procedures; read and interpret blueprints, flow charts, process piping ISOs, simple schematics, P&IDs, and electrical schematics; perform basic math operations.
- Keep accurate records and remain diligent in documentation and record retention policies and procedures.
- Apply knowledge and understanding of control board and operator interface computer consoles.
- Perform operator rounds, water samples, truck loading, and operations PM's.
- Contribute to and promote high housekeeping and organizational standards.
- Support additional team needs as requested by Plant Management.
- Perform all other duties based on business needs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to work extended hours/shift work as business needs dictate.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical Associate degree preferred.
- 2+ years of technical training or operations experience.
- Knowledge/understanding of instrumentation, rotating equipment, and piping systems.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for operating plants (Process Safety Management, EPA regulations, FDA regulations, state/local regulations).
- Knowledge in the proper methods of locking out and isolating equipment.
- Ability to use computers and knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to work in a team environment; demonstrated self-motivated attitude.
- Good verbal/written communication skills to deal effectively with management and external customers.
- Qualified in operation of forklift, man lift, and overhead crane is preferred.
- Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to wear required PPE safety equipment including hardhat, safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, and FRC clothing.
- Full range of motion; ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Able to climb ladders and work off elevated platforms/surfaces.
- Able to work in non-conditioned environments for extended periods.
- Able to enter confined spaces for inspection, testing, and work.
