Production Technician
Job Duties
- Apply your understanding of plant safety rules, regulations, and company safety policies/procedures to protect the team.
- Foster a shared safety culture by being safety minded; models supportive safety practices.
- Work safely and conscientiously in all situations.
- Identify potential maintenance needs; enter them into the work order maintenance management system (Maximo) to ensure ongoing reliability.
- Perform all work in alignment with standard operating and maintenance procedures, utilizing current Life Safety Training skills and safety requirements including safe work permits, energy control isolation and IDLs, confined space entry work, hot work, work plans, pre-job discussions, plant safety inspections, etc.
- Partner with contractors, visitors, and co-workers to support compliance with company safety policies/procedures.
- Issue safe work permit documentation and perform lock-out tag-out of equipment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to work extended hours/shift work as business needs dictate.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical Associates degree preferred.
- 2+ years of technical training or operations experience.
- Knowledge/understanding of instrumentation, rotating equipment and piping systems.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for operating plants (Process Safety Management, EPA regulations, FDA regulations, state/local regulations).
- Knowledge in the proper methods of locking out and isolating equipment.
- Ability to use computers - knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to work in a team environment; demonstrated self-motivated attitude.
- Good verbal/written communication skills in order to deal effectively with management and external customers.
- Qualified in operation of the forklift, man lift and overhead crane is preferred.
- Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to wear required PPE safety equipment including, hardhat, safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, and FRC clothing.
- Full range of motion.
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
- Able to climb ladders, work off elevated platforms/surfaces.
- Able to work in non-conditioned environment for extended periods.
- Able to enter confined spaces for inspection, testing and work.
