Production Technician 3

About the role

Responsible for machine operation and crew in a light industrial setting. Must manage machine team to ensure proper and safe operation of assigned equipment. Responsible for quality, output, and meeting production goals. Additionally, fulfills the job duties of a Production Technician 1 and 2 as required.

Responsibilities

• Production (40%)
  • Monitors performance of machine and personnel; ensures goals are met and issues are communicated to Supervisor and/or Production Technician 3 Lead.
  • Completes all work assignments during production, including checking in material, pocket set-ups, moving material offline, and other necessary tasks.
  • Applies advanced troubleshooting skills and performs basic maintenance on assigned machines to improve quality and performance.
  • Assists crew members as needed.
• Crew Leadership/Training (30%)
  • Organizes crew activities and delegates assignments.
  • Performs assigned duties and trains and develops all crew members.
• Quality and Waste (15%)
  • Monitors product quality for correctness and reports errors; monitors print and bundle quality and makes adjustments as necessary.
  • Monitors product waste and takes steps to reduce or eliminate spoilage and doubles.
• Communication/Record Keeping (15%)
  • Maintains accurate record keeping, including safety audits, packages per hour, labor hours per thousand, and other logs or forms.
  • Communicates personnel issues to the Supervisor or Production Technician 3 Lead and informs other Operators/Supervisors of pertinent information across shifts as necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or GED (Preferred)
• Experience: 3–5 years related experience; basic computer experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Ability to multi-task.
• Demonstrates ability to line lead or crew lead for one (1) machine.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail.
• Effective communicator (shares equipment knowledge, quality, and safety concerns).
• Ability to troubleshoot machine problems.
• Mathematical skills and advanced skills in production reports.
• Basic computer skills; technical skills may vary based on the equipment.
• Ability and knowledge to operate a pallet jack.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of machine and manufacturing operations.
• Ability to speak and communicate effectively utilizing the English language (Preferred)

Physical Demands / Working Conditions

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may carry up to 15 lbs., may push and pull up to 40 lbs., twist, stand, walk, reach, and grip/grasp throughout the shift. Employees are also required to frequently lift up to 15 lbs., and squat and kneel. Lastly, employees are required to have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
