Primary Responsibilities
- Lead daily production activities across assembly and testing areas, ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, efficiently, and according to schedule.
- Cook up team assignments, monitor workflow, communicate priorities, and help remove barriers that may impact production output or delivery commitments.
- Perform and support assembly of hydraulic power units and related products, including component installation, hose and fitting assembly, mechanical build-up, and preparation for testing.
- Set up, operate, and oversee pressure, flow, leak, functional, and performance testing to verify products meet specifications, safety requirements, and customer expectations.
- Interpret hydraulic schematics, engineering drawings, bills of material, work instructions, test procedures, and customer specifications to confirm proper assembly and performance requirements.
- Inspect materials, components, in-process work, finished assemblies, machinery, tools, and test equipment for defects, readiness, and compliance with quality expectations.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic, mechanical, and basic electrical issues and guide team members through practical problem resolution, rework, and corrective actions.
- Cook with production supervision, engineering, quality, and other departments to resolve non-conformances, material issues, rework needs, testing delays, and production constraints.
- Train and mentor production team members on safe work practices, assembly methods, testing procedures, equipment use, documentation standards, and quality expectations.
- Maintain required production records, inspection reports, test results, calibration records, corrective actions, and other quality documentation.
- Cook with tools, equipment, test stands, instrumentation, and work areas for proper operation, calibration status, cleanliness, organization, and readiness for use.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, production flow, throughput, standard work, and equipment reliability.
- Maintain an organized production environment that meets safety, housekeeping, and operational standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Work Experience
- A high school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree in hydraulics, mechanical technology, industrial maintenance, manufacturing, or related field preferred.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in production, assembly, testing, troubleshooting, or maintenance of hydraulic systems or related industrial equipment preferred.
- Previous lead, senior technician, trainer, or informal team leadership experience in a production or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience with hydraulic power units, assembly processes, production workflow, test stands, instrumentation, calibration requirements, and manufacturing environments preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- A strong understanding of hydraulic components, including pumps, valves, actuators, cylinders, motors, accumulators, filters, hoses, fittings, reservoirs, and related production materials.
- The ability to read and apply hydraulic schematics, engineering drawings, bills of material, work instructions, assembly procedures, and technical test procedures.
- A knowledge of production assembly methods, safe equipment use, quality checks, inspection practices, and standard work expectations.
- A proficiency using hand tools, power tools, pressure gauges, flow meters, temperature sensors, multimeters, data acquisition systems, diagnostic equipment, and standard production equipment.
- A strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify root causes and recommend practical corrective actions.
- A working knowledge of basic electrical controls, PLCs, sensors, and automated test systems preferred.
- A familiarity with applicable ISO, ASME, customer, internal production, testing, and quality standards preferred.
- An ability to provide day-to-day direction, mentor others, reinforce expectations, and escalate issues appropriately.
- An effective communication skills with production team members, technicians, engineering, quality, supervisors, and other departments.
- A strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and commitment to safety and quality standards.
- An ability to prioritize work, adapt to changing production needs, and support schedule commitments in a demanding environment.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, ERP systems, and electronic quality or production records.
- A safety-first mindset and collaborative approach.
Physical Demands And Work Environment
- Work is performed primarily in a production, assembly, and testing environment with exposure to hydraulic equipment, production tools, test stands, shop noise, moving equipment, and pressurized systems.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, crouch, kneel, and use hands and arms for extended periods while performing assembly, testing, troubleshooting, inspection, and production support activities.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 70 pounds, with assistance or mechanical lifting devices as appropriate.
- Frequent use of hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, computers, and standard office equipment.
- Use of required personal protective equipment and adherence to all safety procedures is required.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required.
