Production Support Manager

What You'll Do

The Production Support Manager provides the main leadership in an assigned production area to translate the customer deliverables into daily work tasks for execution by the production crews.

Responsibilities

• Achieve established goals for production quantities, product quality, personnel safety, procedural adherence, and security protocol adherence within their assigned area of responsibility.
• Ensure processes, procedures, tooling, and equipment are developed and functional to support production requirements.
• Set performance expectations and monitor performance of employees assigned to their work area, ensuring assigned workers maintain their training and qualifications and that work assignments are in accordance with union contracts and craft jurisdictions.
• Utilize workers to participate in job hazard analysis, procedure development, and productivity initiatives to maximize employee involvement in workplace conditions and practices.
• Execute work within required cost and schedule agreements, including approval and monitoring of overtime for workers.
• Obtain work start authorization for daily operations to ensure compliance requirements are met, ensuring material accountability is maintained and security protocols followed.
• Utilize System Engineers and System Health process to evaluate the condition of production equipment and determine risk to operations.
• Identify and evaluate emerging technologies for application to operations, creating a work environment focused on Continuous Improvement.

Accountabilities

• To the UPF Director for the production division deliverables, including schedule and quality, and employee safety.
• To the Operations Manager for adherence to requirements that define and maintain a safe and secure work environment for manufacturing operations utilizing trained and qualified workers.
• To their assigned crews for training, coordination, involvement, issue resolution, and communication, including resolution of personnel and/or equipment issues.

Authorities

• Authorized to manage the production craft workers to support mission deliverables.
• Authorized to resolve cost, schedule, or resource conflicts regarding mission deliverables within their span of control.
• Authorized to represent the Production Division in interactions with labor relations personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant supervisory/management experience.
• Must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related scientific major and 4 years nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong working knowledge of enriched uranium production operations and equipment, hazards, and controls.
• Strong technical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge and application of Conduct of Operations, Integrated Safety Management System, and Quality requirements.
• Demonstrated implementation of Lean, 5S, and Productivity Improvement projects.

Notes

• Requires a Q clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
• Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709.
