About the role
The Production Supervisor will supervise the day-to-day plant manufacturing operations. This includes ensuring timeliness of shipping goals, cost objectives and quality standards are met. This role also implements all safety programs, and fosters a strong safety culture by promoting awareness, accountability, and proactive safety measures.
Responsibilities
- Reviews orders and productions schedules to determine work force adjustments.
- Supervises a team of hourly union employees.
- Communicate with Production Control, Quality, Purchasing, and Maintenance regarding all aspects of production to monitor quality, quantity, and cost within specifications.
- Makes improvements to meet production quality and quantity needs.
- Oversees operational training of new employees and continual training of existing employees on production changes, safety issues, products, etc.
- Administers and investigates accidents, attendance, and process disciplines along with corrective action counseling.
- Schedules and participates in Company-wide department meetings.
- Conducts safety audits, observations, training, and "Tool Box" talks with employees to ensure a safe working environment.
- Enforces company policies and procedures regarding PPE, accident investigations, and ergonomics.
- Develops, analyzes, and presents reports, including but not limited to, forecasts, productivity, and safety.
- Conducts, leads, or implements the appropriate process audits; the audits will identify the need for the appropriate containment, corrective, and preventive actions, leading to minimizing or eliminating process deviations and non-conforming product root causes.
- Identifies, plans, and leads Kaizen events related to 5S, standard work, SMED and process flow to drive a culture of continuous improvement.
Requirements
- A.S. in a technical or management field required.
- 2 years supervisory experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment.
- Working Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles to include 5S, SMED, Gemba etc.
Qualifications
- Metal fabrication experience preferred.
- Strong analytic skills including the ability to process workflow.
- Experience working in a team environment preferably with a small to medium size company.
- Strong coaching and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- MAPICS experience preferred.
- Ability to walk, sit, bend, twist and navigate all areas of office and plant.
