Production Supervisor & Plannner

About the role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this individual will be a key member of the manufacturing assembly staff, working closely with safety, engineering, quality, and customers to ensure business goals are met. This role will be a significant contributor and decision-maker as we strive to drive growth in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The Production Supervisor & Planner will plan and organize manufacturing activities for Mason’s product lines, including transducers within the Controls Business Unit. This role manages a team of production leaders, assemblers, and inspectors, providing coaching and mentoring, assisting with problem-solving, managing capital budgets, and driving operational efficiency focused on reducing waste and improving productivity.

Responsibilities

• Plans production work orders based on MRP requirements and customer specifications
• Reviews and releases work orders to production
• Plans and reschedules open orders to support changes in MRP demand and availability of capacity
• Updates and maintains status reports
• Investigates and resolves issues related to past due shipments/work orders and material shortages
• Ensures the integrity of the MRP database and inventory accuracy per the materials weekly task schedule
• Initiates and participates in lean initiatives including kanban, one-piece flow, and inventory reduction
• Participates in disposition of non-conforming parts, considering cost and delivery impact
• Ensures day-to-day safety, quality, and manufacturing goals are met for the Production lines
• Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Mason Controls Assembly Area
• Proactively prevents injuries to personnel, damage to the facility, and environmental non-compliances
• Instills a team focus that promotes individual ownership and care for others
• Plans, implements, controls, reviews, adjusts, and communicates production schedules to efficiently use available resources while maintaining cost, quality, and schedule
• Demonstrates effective project management skills
• Develops, implements, and improves systems to maximize production outcomes while ensuring products meet customer specifications
• Proactively seeks opportunities to reduce costs and gain operational productivity
• Participates in process troubleshooting, development and optimization of new equipment and product lines
• Applies technical, engineering, and personnel experience to problem-solving and process design
• Provides leadership in the investigation of problems and implementation of appropriate corrective actions
• Presents operation reports to senior management
• Ensures ongoing improvements for product quality and overall business unit growth
• Investigates and resolves causes of inefficiencies and manufacturing variances
• Provides input to assist with the strategic direction of the plant regarding long-term planning involving operating and capital budgets as well as departmental goals and objectives
• Provides leadership to plant support personnel including reliability, process controls, and process improvement
• Oversees technology transfers and start-up of new product lines, supporting transitions from Design and Development into production
• Assists in the selection, development, and maintenance of qualified personnel within the manufacturing assembly department
• Builds a culture of trust and involvement within the department through positive relations and communication
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, operations, or science preferred, or equivalent experience in a related field
• Aerospace manufacturing background is a plus and highly preferred
• Five or more years of managerial experience within a manufacturing business, cross-functional team management preferred
• Demonstrated success in managing people and leading multiple teams and/or departments in manufacturing
• Strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Excel and related computer programs, with data mining and presentation skills
• Demonstrated success in achieving results along with experience in Operational Excellence
• Business and financial acumen as well as fundamental management principles
• Six Sigma background with lean manufacturing experience (preferred)
• Experience in plant layouts, high-volume production start-ups, and turnkey operations (preferred)

Physical Demands

Employees in this position must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer. The role requires stamina to sit and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions. May occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds and may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending. Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat.

Pay

Compensation: $110,000 - $140,000 annually.
