Production Supervisor (Nights)

About the Role
A typical day as a Production Supervisor involves overseeing an assigned shift or crew, ensuring adherence to company personnel, food safety, quality, production, and leadership objectives.
Responsibilities
- Personnel: Monitor and control personal practices on the floor, provide guidance, coaching, and mentoring to hourly staff. Offer on-the-job training as needed. Manage timekeeping, crewing, time-off requests, and ensure staff attend required training sessions.
- Employee Relations: Adhere to Hilmar Cheese employee handbook policies, including progressive discipline, timekeeping, harassment prevention, substance abuse, and conduct policies.
- Quality: Monitor, control, and administer plant floor quality control checks and standard operating procedures (SOP).
- Regulatory: Ensure compliance with PMO, USDA, CDFA (CA only), FDA, and TDHS (TX only) through established verification processes.
- Process Technical: Troubleshoot process deviations related to process control or mechanical uptime; collaborate with maintenance on scheduled and emergency work.
- Organizational Skills: Organize, prioritize, and communicate daily tasks for hourly staff.
- HACCP/GMP: Monitor and control critical control point (CCP) documentation, communicate out-of-spec (OOS) conditions, and reconcile verified batch record reviews.
- SQF Food Safety and Quality Code: Follow plant floor requirements for document control and training.
- Internal Requirements: Maintain plant floor presence, administer leader standard work flows daily, and ensure the entire process is monitored and controlled.
- System Requirements: Administer SAP work requests and generate pick tickets to ensure plant floor and personnel have necessary resources each shift.
- Reporting Results: Provide shift reports, accurate shift-change information, and conduct thorough shift pass-down meetings.
- Safety: Monitor and control safety procedures, administer corrective actions for safety violations, lead Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) teams, facilitate and report on team objectives, and remove safety barriers. Document near-miss incidents and injuries, and participate in investigations.
- Actively participate in training and development programs, including activities held before, during, after shifts, and on scheduled days off. Coach and train teammates through on-the-job and buddy training.
- Prioritize food safety and sanitation by executing Hilmar Cheese Company’s policies and holding self and others accountable. Report any food safety incidents or opportunities for improvement to leadership. Participate in root cause analysis and improvement activities as required.
- Complete Food Safety overview training.
- Prioritize safety above all other duties, report safety issues, and participate in departmental safety teams.
- Complete annual OSHA-required safety training and company safety training programs.
- Obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR/AED Certification and complete Emergency Response Training (24-hour initial, 8-hour refresher annually).
- Support Product Loss Management efforts and programs.
- Promote company culture and achieve business goals through cooperation with all departments.
Requirements
- Proficient English skills (reading, writing, speaking, and understanding).
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution and 2+ years of relevant production experience in an advanced leadership role or a Bachelor’s degree in a related science or business management field.
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts (day/swing/grave).
Preferred Qualifications
- CDFA Pasteurizer License.
- Advanced industry-related courses.

Pay
Salary Range: USD 68,879 – 103,319 annually.
